Outreach
Fort Morgan
Professor Eric Ishiwata leads an outreach project in Fort Morgan to build relationships among the town’s three main demographic groups: Latinos, Caucasians, and East Africans, including many who come from immigrant and refugee backgrounds. The education and community-building projects have included supporting music festivals, community forums, workshops on translation/interpretation, and professional development trainings on diversity for Morgan County teachers. ISTAR Program
Funded by a Bohemian Fund grant, the Indigenous Science, Arts, Technology, and Resilience (ISTAR) program provides support for Native American youth and families in Fort Collins. ISTAR uses an inter-tribal approach to address topics relevant to a broad range of participants and includes activities that serve as a launch pad for students to engage with their individual tribal communities. ISTAR is led by Assistant Professor Lindsey Schneider.
